| Opening a bit later than planned (October 2006, due to a delay in road construction), Hotel Rimbo is an international hotel in a unique location - the tropical rainforest of West Sumatra, just ten minutes down the road from Lubuksikaping and a mere 27km from the Equator. Rimbo is the Minang word for jungle. It's a wonderful setting - right next to a mountain stream, in some of the most beautiful and unspoilt forest uplands of Sumatra. |
Hotel Rimbo is for people who want something different - those who need to get away from it all, who want a complete change in a place where they can rest or explore as the mood takes them. Where else in the world can you sit outside your hotel and enjoy a cold drink or a barbecue meal as you listen to the monkeys and the other jungle noises, and watch brilliantly coloured butterflies flitting around you? Or on traditional music nights, listen to the music blend in with the sounds of the forest? |

But Hotel Rimbo is more than just a place to stay. We're committed to the local community, and the preservation of this very special forest environment. Most of the building materials are locally produced and, wherever possible, recycled - for example, all the timbers larger than 4"x4" were salvaged from a derelict mesjid. The buildings have been carefully designed to blend in with their setting, and combine the best of local style with modern luxury and convenience. |
Health and safety are priorities at Hotel Rimbo. We place the greatest importance on cleanliness and hygiene, and to making the hotel and its grounds a safe, secure place.
